First off, happy fall!
Secondly, you might notice that my website has a slightly different feel lately.
In the past month, there’s been a little more emphasis on health and beauty. I don’t intend to switch all my content strictly to health and beauty, but I did want to start incorporating some of it into my site. Why? Well, for one, I love it! It’s a hobby that I really enjoy and honestly gives me joy. Secondly, part of being able to “balance life as a mom” is doing things that you love for you! We as moms can be so self-sacrificing to the needs of our children and our spouse ALL the time, that it becomes much too easy to put ourselves on the back burner. I’ve discovered that taking 20 extra minutes for myself in the morning to do my make-up, and then taking another 20 extra minutes in the evening when I complete my skincare routine really helps me slow down, concentrate on me, and ensure that I’m taking a few quiet moments to check in with what I need for myself. It’s time that I use to center myself before the craziness of the day begins, and time I use to rebalance and calm down when the craziness has finally stopped. For me, makeup and skincare is not just superficial and about looking good. It’s soul-soothing.
You’ll also notice that I’m doing more video blog posts and hosting them on YouTube, and less written blog posts. The reason for this is enjoyability and time. When I sit down to do a written blog post, it can take me FOREVER to get across in words the tone I want to express, the right way to emphasize what I really want to point out, and then I over analyze my editing and grammar to make sure it is PERFECT when I get it out to you.
But that takes a ton of time, and I’ve found that my fear of perfection is keeping me from publishing on a regular basis. Even though I can technically write anywhere, and I enjoy writing, I find it is keeping me from being consistent.

Video, on the other hand, I can produce much more quickly. Now, my lighting and audio might not be the best, I don’t really know how to edit video, I may stumble over my words here and there or I might pronounce something wrong. But somehow it doesn’t bother me as much as it does when I’m writing. Video feels more natural, more conversational, and less like it has to be perfect. To me, it feels more real life – and that’s what I’m trying to share with you. The real ins and outs of motherhood and trying to make it all work.
Because after all, you can be perfect, OR you can be real. And I choose real!
So you can expect more videos to come. I’ll link to my most recent 4 video posts below in case you wanted to check them out. The beauty boxes are helping me to get comfortable in front of the camera and as I get better, you’ll see more Musings on Motherhood and Life – my most vulnerable video series which is starting soon.
Until then, I hope you are enjoying this beautiful fall season. I’ll be sharing photos soon of some adventures I’ve been having with my family. Or if you don’t want to wait, be sure to follow Lesley_BLAM on Instagram for the most up to date pictures!
All the best,
Lesley
